Research Assistant (f/m/d) Immunology & Cellular Assays
Full-time and permanent
to join our team and contribute to our collaborative drug discovery projects.
Perform in vitro biology/pharmacology cellular and biochemical assays to support early-stage drug discovery
Develop and optimize mid/high-throughput cellular assays such as proliferation assays, co-culture assays, cytotoxicity assays, as well as cytokine and biomarker analysis using techniques including isolation of primary human immune cells from blood, in vitro cell culture, flow cytometry, luminescent detection and MSD/ELISA assays
Establish customized multi-colour flow cytometry panels for cell analysis and sorting
Independently design, plan and execute experiments within different projects and with high attention to quality criteria
Analyse data independently using software including GraphPad Prism, and MS Excel
Consistently provide high-quality data and prepare summaries of the data in a timely fashion
Closely collaborate with team members, project leaders and members from other groups to meet project demands
Record experiments using electronic lab notebook systems
Work efficiently within a team environment in a matrix organization
Successfully completed apprenticeship as “Biologisch-technische/r Assistent/in” (BTA) or “Chemisch-technische/r Assistentin/in” (CTA). Alternatively, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the field of Life Sciences with multiple years of hands-on experience in an academic, pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment
Strong background and hands-on experience in cell culture, mid/high-throughput assay formats (96-well or 384-well), multi-colour flow cytometry and isolation of primary immune cells from blood is required
Hands-on experience and understanding of cellular immunology assays, co-culture assays (such as mixed lymphocyte reaction or cytotoxicity assays) or cytokine detection methods would be an advantage
Proficiency in data analysis software, such as Excel and GraphPad Prism (or similar) required.
Enjoy working in a cross-functional team and can interact well within the working group and across groups
Good ability to organize and structure the work in order to be able to work on several projects simultaneously and to be able to deliver the required results promptly
Dynamic personality with high levels of drive, enthusiasm, commitment and ability to cope with pressure. Importantly, strong interest and desire to contribute to discovering new drugs for serious diseases
Good oral and written communication skills in English
